Exciting times for Grade Matter with Canvas integration and new features

Grade Matter, our signature Marks and Grades system, developed to add great efficiency and data integrity to the calculation of final marks and grades, has undergone significant development over the last twelve months.

We thought it was time to share this good news with you and to give you a peep at our roadmap of upcoming features.

The major enhancements undertaken include:

  • Support for full integration with Instructure Canvas, including mapping to assessments and assessment groups

  • Support for courses comprised entirely of competency-based assessments

  • UI/UX enhancements for increased clarity and improved usability

  • Cyber Security Policies and procedures updated to ensure continued improvements

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes an integral part of our daily lives, the potential for students to use this technology challenges the use of traditional assessments in university courses. Grade Matter is well placed to support these changes as educators evolve new forms of assessment to embrace the use of AI. Grade Matter's capacity to accommodate diverse assessment data positions it well to play a valuable role in a rapidly evolving AI environment.

A recent publication from TEQSA on Assessment reform for the age of artificial intelligence and the release of the Federal Government's Australian University Accord both point to fascinating times ahead.

In this context, digital innovations that implement systems to replace manual work in order to free up academic and professional staff to focus more on critical areas such as learning design, teaching quality and student engagement are to be embraced.

Grade Matter is one such system as it can liberate teaching staff from mundane and manual work around final grade processing to instead concentrate on exploiting the potential of AI to enhance the student experience.

As we move well into 2024, some of the enhancements we have planned for our Grade Matter roadmap are:

  • The ability to submit subsets of grades including grade changes

  • Producing a Grade Matter analytics module including comparison of cohorts

  • Enhancement of the Administration User Interface

But it's not all Grade Matter at All the Ducks!

In addition to our enhancements to Grade Matter, over the last year All the Ducks has been very busy completing several significant transformational projects for our education sector clients. They include:

  • The replacement of a major LMS course management solution, including “path forward” recommendations, system design and development using LTI 1.3

  • Several independent exploratory review projects that included documenting findings and recommendations on how to proceed

  • Utilising AI to assist our development including the generation of data sets for testing and demonstrations

This work was supported by the appointment of two highly skilled full-time developers who have added further depth to our pool of skills and who are proving themselves to be great assets to the team.

As always, we are very happy to provide demonstrations of Grade Matter or more generally to speak with you about possible projects. Our expertise ranges from early concept exploration, through business analysis to design and scoping to full development.
